Is this role for you?
Are you interested in focusing your career in small animal cardiac work, imaging and internal medicine? Are you a dedicated career vet? Looking for the progression in your career? Excited about excelling as a veterinary surgeon? Maybe you’ve considered residency but realise you want to excel more in practice life than academically?
We are looking for someone who is Client and animal focused, and wants to develop himself or herself for that reason.
This role has been designed for someone who is wanting to push on with their career, become an expert in their field and differentiate themselves from their peers with their medical knowledge base and high level case work.
Is this practice for you?
Our independent, private practice is well equipped for cardiac, imaging and internal medicine work and we strongly encourage people to develop their own perspective.
As you might have noticed, once you get into the complex world of internal medicine, there is often a lack of agreement on what is the right approach to take. Would you get a kick out of reading up on the suggested approaches and opposing views, then working up your own argument of what you think might work best? You’ll be doing all of that of course with the support of the highly qualified practice principal who can discuss with you and help your critical thinking skills develop. The experiences you’ll gain here with advanced imaging techniques and medical work would differentiate you in the level of equipment you can use and your specialisms.
Here you will support us seeing to cardio-respiratory and internal medicine referrals at the practice. We have an in-house CT scanner and provide a scan-only CT service for neighbouring practices. You’ll also have access to specialist ultrasound, a multitude of probes, video endoscopy and digital X-ray.
The day job will be the usual: consulting, working up cases, investigations and surgery. Then in-between those tasks, there will be the focus on you learning and researching, to develop your medical knowledge base.
Have you got the skills we’re looking for?
We’re looking for someone who is already experienced and confident with general surgery, bitch and cat spays, dental procedures and working up medical and surgical cases.
You’ll need great credibility with clients and a passion for learning.
This role is about you growing your knowledge base and casework to become an expert in the field, so it’s not a job for someone who wants to get by doing the minimum. A hunger for development and a passion for patient care are paramount to success in this role.
The things you’ll want to know…
No on-call, 24-hour hospitalisation of our patients on-site with dedicated skilled Vets Now team, heavily supported CPD (as evidenced by many of our staff having passed certificates).
We’re really keen to get the right person in this role, so talk to us about your salary expectations and if you’re the right candidate for us, we’ll want to make sure the salary is right for you.
