What happens with a referral?
You may be referred to Brentknoll for further investigations or treatment because of our Vet’s particular knowledge in the relevant field.
Your vet will send us your pet’s medical history and a request for further investigations and treatment- Upon receipt of these our dedicated referral nurse will contact you to arrange an appointment. The initial consultation will last approximately 30 minutes to discuss your pet’s case, the vet will fully examine your pet before determining the treatment plan.
All clinical findings will be sent in a report to your normal veterinary practice where they will continue our recommended treatment plan. We normally suggest 6 monthly or annual check ups with our referral vets to ensure the current treatment is the most suitable (as conditions often change).
If your pet is with us for surgery, we’ll be giving them our top quality aftercare – and we’ll recommend any specialist rehabilitation treatments we think will help your pet’s recovery i.e. hydrotherapy, manipulation etc
To arrange a referral
Under RCVS guidelines we are not allowed to see your pet for a referral, unless it is arranged through your original vet practice.
